Bet you never tried the “Beacon” in Spartanburg, SC. The guy who takes your order is blind, always says walk and talk, yells out your order to a large kitchen with 25-30 very busy short order cooks. They never write anything down and your order is always correct. You place your order and walk down a cafeteria line to pick it up and pay. This is a very famous place that has been in business approx. 60 years. Over the years most major candiates have eaten at the “Beacon”. A hot dog a plenty is two chili dogs, french fries and fried onion rings.
Also a tiny little place in Mount Pleasant, SC. is “Skoogies” Hot Dog Emporium. Started by a Chicago transplant, they serve a Chicago style dog with Vennia beef dogs, on a seeded bun with kraut, onions, pickle relish, hot mustard, kosher pickle spear, cheese, and hot sport peppers.
Gotta go, just made myself hungry. think I’ll go get a couple of dogs and a cold beer.
