ladys-brunch-burger.jpgRumor has it the Donut burger was invented by none other than late R&B singer Luther Vandross, who supposedly ran out of hamburger buns one night backstage and made do with a halfed Krispy Kreme. The new invention - and finest union of savory and sweet ever achieved - was soon being served at Mulligan’s Tavern in Decatur, Georgia, who deemed their tribute the “Luther Burger.” No word on how Mulligan’s was so privvy to Vandross’ eating habits.

But anyway, cholesterol’s biggest lobbyist, Paula Deen, has taken the unhealthiest food ever invented and made it even worse (or better, depending on how you look at it) by using two Donuts instead of one and topping it with not only bacon, but also a fried egg!

Introducing The Lady’s Brunch Burger.

To my knowledge this is the first ever combination of Donuts and poultry.

“It’s really very European. Locally-grown ingredients — Hanover tomatoes and whatever else is at the Farmers’ Market that week — are the norm. And Emerson’s quirky menu items include a turkey, onion, goat cheese and pistachio sandwich served on a glazed Donut.”

Thanks to expert Charlottesvillian Web designers/movie makers M & M for tipping me to the turkey Donut sandwich.
