Don’t Forget the Donut!

Can we talk about this for a second:

That’s right, it’s Wayne Potash’s 2005 album Don’t Forget the Donut!. Old friends and Charlottesville DJs R and D sent me a copy they found while rummaging through radio station promo CDs. I’m guessing the station must have had two copies or something.

I’m left pretty much speechless by the whole thing, but also intrigued and disturbingly envious of Potash and his laid back lifestyle. I never thought sitting Indian style with a ponytail, a tie-dyed shirt and a guitar next to a plate of assorted Donuts would look so good. Other than the fact that it involves Donuts, I’ll really never be able to put into words why this album is so awesome. So I think the best thing to do is sit back and appreciate the back cover as Wayne goes through his checklist of what not to forget. He’s like, “Yeah, of course I’m bringing the maracas. And the banjo. But I’m seriously not forgetting the Donut. So much so that I’m circling it with my red marker!”

I think it’s best if we don’t discuss the music and focus more on the visuals. But let’s just say that I’m 90% certain this is a children’s album and my favorite song is called Wiggly Tooth.

Don’t Forget the Donuts!, along with Wayne’s other album, Yodel for a Fish, are available on iTunes, but I’d be happy to make you a copy.
